A Warm Welcome from North York General!
Thank you so much for choosing to support North York General (NYG) by hosting a community event or fundraiser! Your creativity, energy, and generosity make a real difference and help us provide exceptional care to patients and families across our community. Hosting an event is a fantastic way to engage your community, have fun, and make a meaningful impact — and we are incredibly grateful to have you as our partner. Together, we are Here for Life, helping people stay healthy and supported every step of the way.
Here’s a simple guide to help you plan your event and make it an amazing experience.
Hosting Your Event
- Anyone can host a fundraising event — individuals, families, businesses, or community groups.
- Events can be in person or virtual, big or small.
- Hosting is a wonderful opportunity to bring people together, celebrate community, and make a lasting difference.
How We Can Help
- We’re excited to provide guidance, answer your questions, and share our experience to help make your event a success!
Using Our Name & Logo
- With written permission, you may use the phrase “In Support of North York General” and our approved logos.
- All promotional materials should be approved by the Foundation before sharing.
Money & Donations
- All funds raised should be sent to the Foundation within 30 days after your event.
- The Foundation does not cover event expenses.
- 5% of funds raised help cover Foundation operating costs, such as receipting and donor care.
- Every dollar you raise brings us closer to providing exceptional care and support to our community.
Tax Receipts (CRA Rules)
- Tax receipts may be issued for donations of $20 or more to the person who made the donation(the true donor).
- We need the donor’s full name, address, and donation amount to issue a receipt.
- Online donations through the Foundation’s platform are automatically receipted.
- For ticketed events, the value of food, prizes, or activities must be subtracted before a receipt can be issued.
Safety & Respect
- Event safety is your responsibility, and we trust you’ll create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment.
- For sports or physical activities, participants must sign a waiver.
- Events must follow public health guidance.
Insurance, Licenses & Permits
- You are responsible for arranging insurance for your event.
- Any required permits or licenses must be obtained and paid for by you.
We’re Unable to Provide
- Event planners, staff, or volunteers
- Help with ticket sales, sponsors, prizes, or donations
- Social media, email, or media promotion
- Donor lists or sending emails on your behalf

Event Organizer Agreement:
Event Organizers are responsible for all aspects of their event as noted above. North York General Foundation, North York General Hospital, and their staff or volunteers are not responsible for any injury, illness, property damage, or loss that may occur. Event Organizers agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Foundation, Hospital, and their affiliates from any claims, costs, or legal action arising from the event.
